The Story of Taper & Trace

It was 2019. Anna and Haley, two best friends that had known each other since 2004 were celebrating Anna’s birthday. The form of that celebration was the completion of a long-time wish for Anna - she wanted to make her own soap. Haley, open to being coerced into crafting time, joined her. What resulted was the identification of an unknown passion that perfectly combined each of the friends’ skills. Anna, an artist and graphic designer, and Haley, a scientist and microbiologist, found a love for the perfect combination of art and science - soap making. This love for soap making eventually turned itself into a business, and Taper & Trace was born.

Anna and Haley make everything by hand in small batches from their hometown in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Each bar of soap is crafted to be not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a great experience. Our proprietary, in-house formula is designed to lather beautifully, keep you feeling hydrated, and leave you feeling clean.
